Literary isolation is dangerous. Currently, 50% of all the books in translation now published worldwide are translated from English, but only 6% are translated into English. We believe that this situation is unhealthy.
Anna Akhmatova was an avid reader and translator.
Our Anna Akhmatova Fellowship for Younger Translators will honor her memory by supporting a new generation, while our national Archival Project will create an extensive collection of links that chronicle and document the work contemporary American translators.
